The Centre for Low Emission Technology is a partnership between world class research and development providers that will make it possible for Australia to continue using its abundant coal resources to provide plentiful, economical energy and power in an environmentally acceptable and sustainable manner, through the production of zero carbon electricity and hydrogen.
It is a reality that Australia will continue to be reliant on coal for energy and power generation for many years to come. This means that our partnership is critically important. It will develop cost-effective new clean coal technologies that, when combined with CO2 capture and storage, will dramatically reduce emissions, helping to protect our environment and Australia 's future.
